Who we are!
This is a LOCAL group of Miata enthusiasts intended FOR local (Toronto / GTA / Southern Ontario based) enthusiasts only. For other clubs local to your area, please visit: http://www.miata.net/clubs and http://www.miata.net can also prove to be an invaluable resource.
I've been a Miataphile since 2004. Most of you don't know who I am, because I don't post much, or come out to many meets, but if you come out to auto-x events, I'm the chick in the purple Miata.
I bought my 2003 Garnet Red Mica Sport Edition Mazda Miata in June 2004, brand new and couldn't drive it off the dealership lot. You see, I didn't know how to drive standard at the time. The very next day, I drove to work and back in rush hour traffic. My fears of driving a standard were eliminated in one day!
I loved my Miata so much, I decided I wanted a winter beater Miata, while the main one was sleeping. Why forego the awesomeness of driving a Miata all year long.
That's when a 1990 Classic Red Miata entered my life. I loved that car so much, I started auto-x'ing her in 2005. She was slow and completely stock, but I didn't care. This was my first year doing anything like auto-x and I wanted something I could learn in. Halfway through the next year, I decided I wanted something a bit faster and less likely to fall apart, so I bought a 1992 Sunburst Yellow SE Miata with a 1.8L swap. Learned a bit more and when my dog came into my life, sold the Sunburst and bought an SUV.
That's when the original Miata came out to really play. PITL, HADA, lapping days, track schools, drag nights, etc. I was into everything. I was finally using the car for what she was setup to do. And loving every minute of it.
I loved driving and competing so much, it was only a matter of time before I saw the other end of the motorsports world and started assisting in the organization of a number of events you see. I am always doing registrations, so if you're out there, come say hi. I make it my life's work to encourage people to enjoy their cars and drive the piss out of them. You'll always hear me trying to get people to come out to a track or auto-x event. Hope to see some of you guys and gals out there!
