I really do not recall when my love affair for cars began, but the bit I do recall, it started with me just pushing toy cars on the floor of our apartment in Hong Kong. Then, the nail in the head, is the manga, Initial D.
My first car was a 1989 RX7 N/A for 500 bucks, it didn't even run and spent double that to get it running. It'd drink oil every single time I started it, and the motor failed 3 months after I got it.
